Western Leopard Toad

One of the first pictures I took was in early January this year. I live in an area where we have plenty of these toads. They are endangered and there are various organizations that assist to protect them. Once a year they have their mating season, around about September each year. As thousands make their way to the wetlands, many of them get killed by motor vehicles when they are crossing the roads. Many people assist these toads over the roads by creating barriers on either side of the roads and then manually carry the toads over the road. This is done after the mating period is over and the toads make their way back “home” which may be your garden, this particular toad lives in mine with many tiny little ones, often no larger than my thumbnail.
